HISTORY
Consistent developments in tape technology since 1980 have made
Overland a key global supplier of automated tape backup solutions
for complex computing environments. In 1994, Overland entered the
DLTtape industry with LibraryXpress, the world's first modularly
scalable library that could be upgraded in capacity increments to
address nearly every backup need. Another technology breakthrough
introduced in 1997 the Variable Rate Randomizer (VR2) data encoding
technique substantially increases the capacity and throughput of
linear tape formats without any changes in tape path design,
recording heads and/or media. Today, Overland’s pioneer spirit
builds upon these historical successes.
CAPABILITIES
Overland’s third generation of libraries adds Distributed Robotics
Architecture (DRA) to the company’s award-winning DLT
LibraryXpress SmartScale Storage core. Named the Neo Series, this
ultimate, intelligent automated storage system provides maximum up
time, enables tape drive, robotics, power supply and controller card
redundancy, and provides a means to configure mixed-media storage
libraries.

SCSI and other storage networking technologies, and increase backup

LAN-free and Server-free backup.
